Creating Objectives
Learn how to create and manage objectives at the project, organization, and team level.
Objectives define what you want to achieve for your website. Every objective belongs to exactly one scope: a project, a team, or an organization.
Scope Overview
| Scope | Who sees it | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Project | Members with access to that project | Goals tied to a specific website or property |
| Team | All members of the team | Shared outcomes across a team's projects |
| Organization | All org members | Company-wide strategic goals |
Important: An objective must belong to exactly one scope. You cannot assign it to both a team and a project simultaneously.

Writing Good Objectives
Do:
- Use action-oriented language: "Improve," "Reduce," "Launch," "Complete"
- Be specific about the scope: which sections, which pages, which metrics
- Set realistic time frames based on your team's capacity
Avoid:
- Vague objectives like "Make the website better"
- Objectives without a clear time frame
- Too many objectives at once — focus on 3-5 per quarter

Objective Statuses
- Not Started — Objective has been created but work has not begun
- In Progress — Active work is underway
- At Risk — Progress is behind schedule
- Completed — All key results have been achieved
- Cancelled — Objective has been withdrawn
Deleting an Objective
Deleting an objective also removes all associated key results. This action cannot be undone, so use it carefully.
