What you get

Traffic-Mapped Sitemaps

See page-level sessions, users, and pageviews layered directly onto your visual site structure. Spot high-traffic hubs and forgotten dead ends at a glance.

Engagement Scoring

Surface engagement rate, average session duration, and bounce rate per page so you can prioritize content updates where they actually move the needle.

Conversion Correlation

Map goal completions and key events back to individual pages, revealing which content contributes to revenue and which just occupies server space.

How It Works

Connecting Google Analytics 4 to Evergreen takes less than two minutes. Once linked, Evergreen pulls page-level metrics from the GA4 Data API and maps them directly onto the site structure it discovered during your most recent crawl.

Every page in your visual sitemap gains a data layer: sessions, engaged sessions, users, pageviews, engagement rate, average engagement time, and any key events you have configured. The result is a single view that answers the question every content strategist dreads: "Is this page actually doing anything?"

Setup Steps

  1. Navigate to your project settings and open the Integrations tab.
  2. Click "Connect Google Analytics 4" and sign in with the Google account that has access to your GA4 property.
  3. Select the GA4 property and data stream you want to map to this project.
  4. Choose your reporting window — last 7, 28, or 90 days — and click Confirm.
  5. Evergreen syncs automatically. Your sitemap will refresh with traffic data within moments.

No code snippets to paste, no tracking IDs to hunt down. OAuth handles the authentication, and Evergreen takes care of the rest.

What Data You Get

Once connected, every page in your Evergreen project gains access to the following GA4 dimensions and metrics:

  • Sessions and Users — Understand raw traffic volume per page and section.
  • Engagement Rate — See the percentage of sessions that lasted longer than 10 seconds, had a key event, or included two or more pageviews.
  • Average Engagement Time — Identify pages that hold attention versus pages visitors abandon immediately.
  • Key Events (Conversions) — Map configured GA4 key events back to the pages where they happen.
  • Pageviews and Views per Session — Distinguish between entry pages and pages that appear deeper in user journeys.

Evergreen aggregates this data at the page, directory, and section level, so you can zoom out to evaluate an entire content hub or zoom in to audit a single URL.

Why It Matters

Analytics dashboards show you numbers. Evergreen shows you numbers in context.

A page with 50,000 monthly sessions sounds impressive — until you see it sitting next to a content health score of 32 and three broken internal links. Conversely, a page buried four levels deep in your navigation might have a perfect health score but zero traffic because nobody can find it.

By correlating GA4 data with crawl-derived content health signals, Evergreen helps you answer questions that neither tool can answer alone:

  • Which high-traffic pages have content quality problems? These are your highest-leverage fixes — improving them protects existing traffic.
  • Which high-quality pages are getting no traffic? These represent untapped potential. They may need better internal linking, updated metadata, or promotion.
  • Which sections of the site drive conversions? Understand the content architecture behind your revenue, not just the landing pages.

The GA4 integration is foundational to Evergreen's content audit workflow. It transforms your sitemap from a static diagram into a living, data-rich map of your website's performance.

Power Your Audits with Real Data

When you run a content audit in Evergreen, GA4 data feeds directly into the scoring model. Pages are evaluated not only on technical health — titles, meta descriptions, headings, links — but also on whether they attract visitors and keep them engaged. The combination produces audit recommendations that are grounded in reality, not guesswork.
