MCP uses a client-server architecture over JSON-RPC. The MCP server (Evergreen, in this case) exposes "tools" — named functions with typed parameters and return values. Claude Code

Once configured, Claude Code automatically discovers the available tools. You can verify by asking "what Evergreen tools do you have access to?" and the model will list them.
Cursor
Cursor supports MCP servers through its settings. Add the same configuration in Cursor's MCP settings panel (Settings → MCP Servers → Add Server). The configuration format is identical to Claude Code's JSON format.
